spring break

I snowboarded and messed up my knee and hurt my bum. I went to TriState to use my trial membership that expires in a month. I worked with Sig's Speech Team I went with the team to the State Speech Contest at IUPUI I'm back reflections on speech: the team got 3rd, but it was a clear improvement from last year with a lot more semifinalists and higher placing finalists. however, culver academy and maconaquah had more finalists than sig did. generally, quality is better than quantity, but quantity of finalists trumps quality of finalists, because final rounds are a total crapshoot. rachel and ashley actually had the best overall scores in HI and DI, respectively, but because of the funky algorithm used at state, they got 2nd place. oh well the team has a decent future, but it needs to run practices more tightly. there needs to be a system of department heads, who critique all the other people in that category/department. that would get a lot more serious practice done. on the bright side, sig's current system is eons ahead of MD's g'luck to ashley tinnell and katie miller at nationals! ashley's DI final round was the FIRST enjoyable round of DI I've ever been in.
