! congrats to the sig speech team!
Signature's Speech Team finally won sectionals. This is the first time in more than a quarter century that Reitz has lost sectionals, what an upset. Although, it wasn't really much of a surprise the way the last few seasons have gone for Reitz...what happened to the fabled team that I once was afraid of? (and I was on the team back then. I can't imagine how other schools' students felt) But Sig has improved a lot. Especially Ashley Tinnell. She's a true nationals level competitor, and Sig's pillar of support. I mean, I used to be able to get 1,1 or 1,2 in OO,OI at local meets, but those were a joke. Once I got to State, my OO just got smashed as the poorly put together oratory it was. Ashley however, stands a decent chance of pulling Sig with her to the State finals. She's gotten 219 speech points this year so far! State and Nationals promise a season total of at least 300 pts. Mirroring her success have been Sig leaders Rachel and Andy Goldman and Katie Miller. Supported by a hodgepodge crew with surprises such as Tyler Yezbik, Tommy Wilson, Rachita Navara, and Mackenzie Hudson, Signature has an interesting team indeed. Don't stop though. My message to Signature: aim higher than Reitz. Aim for Plymouth-like excellence, if not size. Aim for more than Indiana. Aim for universal competitiveness, because it's within a few years' grasp.
