My violin teacher's wedding
Sounds like the latest chick flick, no? Well last night Mike, Joe, and I went looking for gifts for Beatrix, Joe's and my violin teacher. First, we dropped by Chow Bar. "Three people?" asked Peter Pan, the owner. "Uh, we're just going to order bubble tea." Peter Pan looked kinda disappointed for a second. Then we walked on Kirkwood and found most of the shops closed. We stopped by the Game Preserve more to indulge our geek fantasies than to actually look for gifts for Beatrix. The chess sets cost a lot! The go sets cost a fortune! I think I might make my own go board. After walking around the Courtyard Square, Joe and I decided to just get a gift certificate from a restaurant for her. We stopped by Casablanca on the way back to get a gift certificate. Going back to the apartment, we stopped by Chow Bar again, cause we were hungry. Peter Pan knew his special bubble tea mix had drawn us back. Chicken and broccoli to go sounded good. I almost stole a glass of water without knowing it. "Thanks, see you later!" Halfway home, I realized I no longer had the gift certificate. "Oh...wait....do any of you have the gift certificate?" "No." "No." "Oh shit." We went BACK to Chow Bar for the 3rd time that night, Peter Pan grinning and expecting us to order more food no doubt, haha. Finally we returned and folded an origami envelope and two giant origami roses. Today was the wedding--I just got back. I have to say, the speech/benediction/whatever by the pastor was pretty good. It drew heavily on music metaphors though ("You two have played in quartets, trios, duos, ensembles...and you've learned that in an ensemble, you never just play your notes. You listen to the other people's notes as well. Marriage is a lot like an ensemble..." etc). Makes me wonder what the pastor mention if two mathematicians or chemists got married . Congrats to Beatrix and Nathan!
