In the market for a heart
Why not? I ask
We can't we can't Lily says
Completing her current task
Maybe...someday
She doesn't thaw at all
She tries to spare my heart
'Cause it's the law
Now I lay bleeding, in the market for a new heart
Damn that Asimov!
"A robot may not harm a human being or human heart"
Lily recites the law
She's so smart...
She knows that love is the most powerful emotion
That love is hazardous
She knows that this is true whether through art, hormones, or potion
That love is crack-cocaine-plus-plus
Yet by denying the opportunity for love
Sweet Lily hurts me more
That's why I'm appealing to the Great Above
Please, God, in the next life, give me a heart of boron
Let me have a heart that ticks
tocks
ticks
tocks
So that maybe I can understand Lily's thoughts.
I'd pay anything for that.
Goodbye Lily...thank you.
1. A robot may not harm a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by the human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence, as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
- Issac Asimov's Three Laws of Robots
Note: Asimov didn't pretend his rules were foolproof. In fact, he showed the futility of trying to hardcode restrictive laws into robots in "I, Robot". But his name fit the theme and near rhyme, so I used it, hehe. Oh, and crack-cocaine++ can be shortened to C++ HAHA.
So the last two poems I've written have been about topics suggested by friends (anime vs realism and robots). If you have a random idea, let me know!
