sweetened tadpoles

Maybe it's because I'm crazy or maybe it's because I'm Asian, but I like the crazy Asian drinks that are sold at oriental grocery stores. Had some Yan Wo today--rock candy, water, agar (of grass jelly notoriety), and "Bird's Nest", an herb, according to my mom. I've also drank several lychee juice is the past week. MMmmm...unfortunately, I am now out. I would buy some concentrate and make my own lychee juice, but unfortunately, concentrate for lj simply does not exist at Obo's OR Kroger's. Lj is just that complex, that unique, that it it's impossible to form a satisfactory concentrate. I also came across the Crazy Asian Drinks site today. I think I saw it last year and thought it was funny. Now, I read the reviews and wonder if the reviewers are really that averse to Asian drinks. Not a single drink has a positive review, haha. Even soy milk!--granted, this is authentic soy milk, not whatever the Silk Soy Milk that most Americans are accustomed to. But still, dou jiang is delicious and doesn't have any weird chewy particles in it. It's feasible that the reviewers just don't like foreign drinks: they have beverage xenophobia. At a calligraphy event put on by China House, I remember one of the students there, who was also in my Tai Chi class the semester before, that couldn't stand the bubbles in the bubble tea. She compared it to eating giant tadpole embryos. The CAD review for basil seed drink also likens drinking it to eating tadpoles. I wonder why people are so wigged out by different textured food. As long as I know it's clean and safe, and it doesn't smell bad, I'll try anything. Why are people so scared of dried, shredded squid? Well once Lisa bought roasted squid instead of dried, shredded squid from China Lu for our China presentation to the class, and that smelled really strongly and was tough to chew. I can understand if anyone from World History has a fear for dried shredded squid, but the rest of you need to consume some. Or try the preserved duck eggs, mmmm. Stop being so close-minded! Trust me, you'll like the basil seed drink. I know it looks just like tadpole eggs, but I'll let you know that tadpole eggs taste delicious, too! Just kidding, of course! I've never eaten tadpole eggs, but I wonder how they taste... Maybe I'm just crazy after all.

Awesome! But you fit the crazy AZN profile. I'd like to give a can of banana flavored grass jelly to my professors, for instance, and see their reactions.
