Land of the Free, I Think

Texas takes control of 13-year-old's life. I don't know what to think about this. On the one hand, if the parents really are crazy and don't want to care for their kid, then why not let the state become caretaker? A weird variation of in loco parentis I guess. On the other hand, what if the parents love their child but would rather just not see her undergo chemotherapy, etc. And just let her live out the rest of her life? Food for thought. OK! I must sketch some scenery, study for genetics, and take that final. Jana!
