what an awesome week
the weather is beautiful, food is free and plenty, joy and fun are around every corner. what more could I ask for? oh, if you guys haven't read/heard of ishle yi park, you should check her out. she's a korean-american slam poet, brooklyn's poet laureate, she's toured on russell simon's def poetry jam, etc. her poems are all very good, even if they aren't as insane and outrageous as beau sia's (whom she is friends with...along with justin chin and the rest of the people from phuc's poetry program). she had a few crazy poems, but I can't find them online. I did find one of her more serious poems on her site though, go read it. Open Letter to the Girls of Soldiers. oh the retreat this last weekend was awesome too. my only complaint is that because i was so tired when i got back, i couldn't go volunteer for the Widespread Panic concert. oh well, a weekend in new harmony well worth it. i mean, we used sheets to transfer mattresses between floors! that's just mindblowing in any situation. more free food tomorrow! come to the ACC (ask if you don't know where that is) at 7 for a discussion on why asian-americans tend to self-segregate. yeah, i know the topic is ironic, considering it is held at the asian culture center, but i'll be there for the food and yoyo practice afterwards.
