summer vacati...er...summer school!
So after getting back to Eville on Friday night, I moved back to Bloomington this morning--Subway apartment #8, where it's fresh, baby. Well actually, it's kinda dirty right now, but it WILL be fresh, mark my word. Mike and I will whip this place into not -so-scary shape, and the sororities will start flowing in--just kidding! Just kidding! The last few days in Eville I realized that my sister and my relationship has improved a lot since our elementary school days when I would call her a "witch"--because I was afraid to say the b-word--and try to claw her with my uncut-in-4-weeks fingernails and she would blackmail and mentally torment me. Ah, what great memories. And now, we act much more like friends...makes sense since I've actually made a lot of friends that are oddly similar to my sister this year. Star Wars III looks very excellent. Worth camping out for? We shall see. Over my 3 day vacation, my mom hassled me a lot about my hair length. I haven't cut it since late January. It's about the same length as it was back in December. I don't understand the big deal. Jibes like "You look like a girl," "No girls will like you," and "You look bad" no longer have an effect on me. It's all about functionality and cost-benefit ratio. My hair isn't so long that it gets in the way of anything, and spending $10 to cut it now would be ridiculous. That means I would need to spend another $10 even sooner to get my next haircut. Suppose I got 6 $10 haircuts (one bimonthly, as would make my mom happy). That's $60 a year!!! I used to always get my hair cut by my parents (free dollars). Now suppose I stick to just 2 $10 haircuts and 1 free haircut a year. I save $40 every year! Over the course of my estimated 74.89 year life, that's $2239.60 that I will save! That's 2000+ McChickens! I would never go hungry! So I see it as a question of appeasing my mom's aesthetic wishes, or feeding myself. I'm postponing my haircut for as long as conveniently possible. In the interesting stories for the day, 1) a student was expelled for cheating on an ethics test: A University of Delaware student who was suspended after he was caught cheating on a test in a corporate ethics class is suing the school to be reinstated. And 2) ipod vending machine in operation: How about this? An iPOD vending machine at an airport. What else can they think of, and it's even now still regarded as a "hip" thing. Well it is and it works! I couldn't do without my iPOD in the car and in the gym. No comment. In fact, I have to go shower soon. After all, showering is the first step is the 3 month FRESH-ization plan.
